I shed that feeling about entering churches when my father took a contract to cleans some church offices. It's just a building.
Ya know it's strange Mrs.Jones, cuz to enter a church for a wedding or even a funeral wouldn't bother me as I'm not necessarily participating in anything as much as I'm just a visitor, or even a guest. On the other hand, to purchase a fish sandwich would be to support the church even if the proceeds are for an honorable cause. I know it's completely retarded and an asinine way of viewing things and one would think I've advanced enough beyond WT bull shit to let something like a fish sandwich disturb me, but I just can't cross that line.
Obviously there plenty of other options are available for lunch in this area for me not to lose sleep over this one fish sandwich, so I guess that makes it more of a non-issue yet it also highlights just how deep this WT indoctrination is in me. Like I can't believe I'm typing this but, to be honest with you, I have some trepidation when it comes to purchasing a fish sandwich from something associated with Babylon the Great and I don't even believe the WT's interpretation of Babylon the Great. I guess you can maybe call it a combination of stupidity, fear, indoctrination, and cognitive dissonance.
Ironic thing is I'm about to go see a rated R movie, Safe House, with plenty of violence and bad language, maybe even the occasional softcore booby, and that doesn't bother my conscience as much as purchasing a fish sandwich from a church. The WT has done a number on my head.

Chick-Fil-A is a popular chicken chain here in the States, and the owner I believe has a Penacostal background. Occasionally when I stop in there, there will be Gospel music playing in the background. I remember the first time I stepped into one, and sat down to read the newspaper I couldn't help but notice some singing in the background about Jesus. Some people actually refer to their food as, "Jesus Chicken." Regardless, they've got some good chicken strips, and their vanilla milkshake is serious business. Oh, and they're also closed on Sundays which is probably related to the owner's Christian background.
We've got a church across the street from where I work at, that has awesome fish sandwiches on Friday during lunch hours. I know this only from word of mouth, as the JW thing has me leary about entering a church to purchase a fish sandwich. I know it's silly but I have this hangup in the back of my mind that Jehovah is gonna be pissed at me for getting a fish sandwich from this church. Again I acknowledge the stupidity of thinking that way, but it's not an easy thing to shed this JW upbringing.

Some apostates are sociopaths
by myusername inthat is a controversial title to this post.
i think most apostates are kind-hearted people who want to warn others about this organization and help others get out of it.
however, some jws are sociopaths.

I think sociopathic as a label may be too kind of a designation when categorizing some apostates both on this message board and elsewhere. The better word to use, at least I think so, would in fact be, asshole(s).

Higher Education ... Thoughts, Tips, Money-saving Ideas
by RubaDub inwhile i have a bachelors and advanced degree from a very well-respected university, it makes me cringe when i see what people spend (or think they need to spend) to get a college degree.
having taken a few non-traditional steps to get my education, here's a few thoughts and ideas to think about if your kids are getting to be college age or if you (like many jw's) are thinking about going to college later in life:.
1. community colleges are a bargain!.

I'd rather spend my time on theocratic pursuits. I'm really excited about the 30 hour auxilliary pioneer activity for April.

NoRoomForGeorge must be drooling over this WT illustration. The (1950s) woman of his dreams...
Not really, she wears her skirt too high on her hips, it's the equivalent of guys with highwaters. As far as attractive women in years gone by goes, Trudy Campbell, and Draper's secretary, Allison were both hot to me. Let me find a JW woman like either one who'll serve me chicken coffee before we go to the meeting, and I'll serve the David Splane & Co. forever.
